My memories around 1923-1924(Taisho year 12-13) when I was in primary school.
As the location of my school was near Kisei main line(former Sanngu line), school children used to welcome to and send off the Imperial train for the Royal family's visit to the Grand shrine of Ise. [Imperial train means the train prepared for the journey of Emperor, Empress and prince]
Pupils of the upper class, in class unit in turn, stood in one row facing the train track (around 30 meters near to the track) setting up the scheduled time for the passing of the Imperial Train.
When the Imperial Train was approaching, the teacher of the class shouted a command, "Attention. Profound bow". Then the Imperial Train was passing by.
Two steam locomotive engines were pulling the Imperial train. The reason why two engines were there, they said, was just in case of trouble of engine.
It is the story that we cannot believe it these days.
