A Newspaper Article on the Day of the A-Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima (by Kensuke)

　
My workmate gave me a paper which he had kept for years. Considering it somewhat precious one, I kept it all the time.

New Type Bomb Dropped On Hiroshima

Small number of B-29 Attacked
Considerable Damage, Details Are Under Investigation

Imperial-Headquarters announcement (15:30 on August 7, 1945)
1. On August 6, Hiroshima City suffered considerable damages by attack a small number of B29 bomber .
2. The enemy seems to have used new type bomb in this attack. We are now investigating the detail.

A bomb dropped by parachute exploded in the air .
It is a cruel new type bomb, ignoring humanity.

At past 8 o'clock Aug 6, a few bombers of B29 invaded Hiroshima city and dropped a small number of bombs. Considerable number of the house collapsed in the city, and many fires broke out at every places.
The enemy, America, seems to have used a new type of weapon at this assault. This bomb was dropped by parachute, then exploded in the sky on it's way to the ground.
Although it is under investigation about the power at present, it seems not to be treated lightly.

With using this new type of bomb, the enemy exposed clearly a barbarious intension trying to kill or wound inocent people .
They dared to do this inhuman act. From this act, we can not ignore the enemy's impacience on the way of this war and their inhuman intension behind the attack. The enemy who performed such inhuman cruel action have no right to speak about justice or humanity loudly.

It will be easily expected that the enemy will use such bomb sucseedingly from now on.
The measure against it is going to be directed soon by the authorities, but untill then, we have to promote conventional measures against air-raid such as early evacuation from city, and maintenance of air-raid cave shelterand so on.

Looking at enemy's attack at this time, even if the attack is by small number of bombers, it is dangerous to underestimate them excessively.

They started various kinds of exaggerated propaganda with the first use of new type bomb.
American President, Truman, made a statement about the use of this weapon already.
Not wavering in this atatement, each of us has to strengthen the measure against their attack with strong hostility to them.
